FAQs

Q: What is the process of registering my child in OCPS?

A: One may enroll online or physically. Bringing forms of identification that show proof of residency, a birth certificate, current immunization records, and IEP/504 plans is also required. Another feature that OCPS has provided is the ability to locate your school (Find My School).

Q: Are homeschool students able to take part in OCPS activities?

A: Yes. Students under homeschooling are allowed to participate in the interscholastic and extracurricular activities provided they meet the requirements of the Florida Statute 1006.5, such as attending the mandatory classes in a curriculum.

Q: What are the student policies on devices and the internet?

A: OCPS offers digital devices to students in grades 3 12 to take home. Any damages or loss are the responsibility of the students, who are expected to report problems in good time. Bring-your-own-device is permissible, but without technical support.

Q: What can I do to get free or reduced-price school meals?

A: In certain schools, OCPS is part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), where all students get free breakfast and free lunch. In non-CEP schools, an online application can be filled out, which usually begins on July 1.

Q: Does my child qualify to travel by school bus?

A: Yep- students are eligible when they reside two miles or further away from their zoned school, or when they possess an approved IEP or 504 Plan.
