FAQ

Q: How do I register a new student in CUSD?

Ans: The district uses the Aeries AIR system for all new and returning students enrolled with the district. They will come with proof of residency and immunization records, and other necessary paperwork. Sign-ups are generally available in the spring before the upcoming school year.

Q: Is it possible for us to move to another school in the same district?

Ans: Yes. If the parent would prefer their child to attend a school other than the one to which he or she has been assigned, the parent may apply for an intra- or interdistrict transfer. On a case-by-case basis, these are processed with requests for the 2025-2026 school year, having begun January 6, 2025.

Q: What is the class schedule and calendar (when do students start and end the school year)?

Ana: Sage Creek’s classes are on a trimester schedule, enabling students to take additional classes, receive accelerated learning, and have the opportunity to earn additional credits. Class days are typically 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., except Wednesdays when classes release early, at 2:30 p.m.

Q: What accelerated programs does CUSD have at the level of post-secondary education level?

Ans: While CUSD’s courses go beyond standard curriculum, they also offer high school Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) classes. Middle schools also provide Advanced Learner Education, while GATE-identified kindergarten through grade 8 students receive differentiated instruction for high achievers.

Q: How does the district prepare for volunteer engagement and tech availability?

Ans: CUSD invites active parental involvement by providing ways to volunteer (e.g., assisting in the classroom, field trips, etc.). Volunteer forms and guidelines are required for families. Technology: CUSD has a 1:1 Chromebook program and needs to be familiar with the district’s Acceptable Use Policy.
