The student-teacher ratio is approximately 15-18:1, which translates to thousands of teachers and other support personnel to advocate academic achievement.
The main idea of the district is to develop a safe and inclusive learning experience, pay attention to student achievement, equity, and innovation. Such things as Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and social-emotional learning strategies, as well as the involvement of the community, are all significant constituents of its educational mission. The DeKalb Schools have been making efforts on improvements to facilities, developing curriculum, as well as programs to increase efforts to close achievement gaps. Although it is struggling with some issues, such as the infrastructural demands and the changing demands of supporting its students, the district is striving to develop responsible citizens and lifelong learners in a global society.
