Knox County School Calendar with Holidays 2025-2026

Knox County School Calendar: Teachers return to school on July 31, 2025, and the first day of school is preceded by two days of professional development. The first day of instruction is Monday, August 4, 2025, when students will first report to class. The first day of school for students is Monday, August 18, 2025; Winter Break is scheduled for Monday, December 22, 2025, through Friday, January 1, 2026, with the start of school resuming for students on Monday, January 5, 2026. Spring Break is from March 9–13, 2026, but classes resume on schedule afterward. Thursday, May 21, 2026 (1/2 Day) is the last day of school for students, wrapping up the school year, and Friday, May 22, 2026, with an Administrative Workday, is the last day of school for teachers.

Students are due to start summer vacation after May 21 and not return until the next school year (while teacher responsibilities wrap up by May 22). Generally, school starts back up during the first week of August in 2026.

Knoxville and its environs Knox County Schools (KCS), in East Tennessee, are the publicly funded school system in the city.
